Back in The Lab with Seth Troxler

The Lab, NRK's mix series devoted to the world's most cutting edge DJs and forward thinking sounds, returns this Autumn with an instalment compiled and mixed by undoubtedly one of the scene's most talented and brightest stars.

Hailing from the suburbs of Detroit, Seth Troxler has made an incredible journey over the last few years, from the local DJ spots at Detroit's The Works club and behind the counter service at the famous Melodies & Memories record store, to the most top drawer nights and clubs across the world, such as Fabric, Panorama Bar, DC10, The Rex et al. With a youthful enthusiasm and leftfield charm, Seth has become a huge favourite of clubbers and party freaks, so much so that he was voted the 3rd most popular DJ in Resident Advisor's poll for 2010. But behind the public perception of Troxler, he is seriously dedicated and passionate about quality underground electronic music, taking giant leaps with his latest Visionquest project, a collective of friends and fellow artists such as Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves and Lee Curtis. His productions and collaborations with esteemed artists like Deetron, Matthew Dear and Tiefschwarz, and labels like Crosstown Rebels, Circus Company, Wolf & Lamb and Wagon Repair show an artist deeply in tune with the cutting edge electronic music that endeavours to push the envelopes of dance music.

And so it's with welcoming arms that Seth comes to NRK to compile and mix a double album project for it's The Lab series, of which Loco Dice and Steve Bug have produced stellar previous entries. Label boss, Nick Harris, explains further; "for me, The Lab is all about encouraging the artist involved to experiment a little with the music, the tempos, tones, the overall vibe, literally as though the mix were created in some kind of electronic laboratory. And really, Seth was right on my radar when we came off the back of the excellent Steve Bug compilation. It's been a long time in the making however, I first spoke with Seth last June (2010) about doing the mix, and he was up for it right away, but of course with such a busy and global schedule, it's been difficult to get together and put something down that we are both happy with. But I'm a patient man, I believe in waiting for good things, and not rushing through something that we would later look back on and say, well, we could have done it better. So a lot of track inclusion ideas have been bounded around, and Seth has built up such experience with the tracks through playing like 3-4 times a week all over the place, and he has finally come through with over 2 and a half hours of music that has quite literally blown my mind, and I've been involved with house and techno for many years, and some of the music on this mix is next level shit!"

"Seth Troxler - The Lab" will be released on September 26th on multiple physical and digital formats. Further details on tracklisting to be announced soon.
