New single and album from Ed Davenport

Over the past 5 years Ed Davenport has become a name synonymous with quality electronic music. From his recordings for labels such as Poker Flat, Liebe* Detail and NRK to his impressive DJ sets at clubs such as Berghain, Davenportʼs has proved himself an invaluable asset to the scene.
Now the UK born, Berlin based producer is readying himself for the release of his debut long player, ʻCounterchangeʼ, due on NRK in early 2012. As part of the build up, the label is releasing the first single taken from the album, the excellent ʻNew Yorkshireʼ. The artist himself describes the record as being dedicated “to the pioneering sounds of the North, fused with the heavy house beats filtering across the Atlantic from the East Coast” and the choice of New York producer Fred P to perform remix duties, alongside Nick Harris completes this concept.
The release offers 4 great versions of ʻNew Yorkshireʼ including the original club and club dub, these 2 mixes have a typical Davenport mix of heavy analog beats and warm, synth elements, finished off with the distinctive room-filling sound explored in his previous 'More Red Lights' EP.
New Yorkʼs Fred P, a producer whose name is on everyoneʼs lips right now, provides the first of the 2 remixes. For his version of ʻNew Yorkshireʼ he strips things back and delivers a deliciously deep slice of house with a brooding and intense atmosphere, showing exactly why the Soul People man is in such demand right now.
Following in his footsteps, NRK label boss Nick Harris steps up and turns in a brilliant Chicago inspired techno/house fusion mix that is certain to be a highlight for many Djs.
Nestled in the middle of the package is additional track ʻTestamentʼ, a beautifully deep and emotive nine and a half minute recordings that draws on a laid back drum track and bassline and rich pads and piano lines to create a sunrise masterpiece.
This is the first single from Ed Davenportʼs early 2012 debut album ʻCounterchangeʼ and if itʼs anything to go by we may be looking at one of the most exciting electronic albums of the year to come.

David Durango's "Supernature" EP out now

David’s unique sound is on showcase here with his three originals, always production with depth and a healthy soaking of reverb! On “Supernature”, a relaxed tempo picks up the pace with sprightly percussion and cymbals, layered vox and big chords, sweet deep house music at its finest. “Qubota” builds layer upon layer of swinging drum patterns, hypnotic organ stabs, trebly strings and FXd vocal snips; a well put together house track
On the remixes, Matthew Styles has been building a great profile over the years, with releases and mixes for Crosstown Rebels, BPitch Control, Rekids and Music For Freaks. His remix of “Supernature” is a muscular, shuffling house groove, tossing around the vocals from left to right, whilst keeping things strictly heads down.
And Daniel Kyo helps complete the package with his remix of “Qubota”. Kyo has been super busy the last couple of years, working his sound onto remixes and releases for Noir, Plastic City, lost My Dog and Milton Jackson’s Dark Energy label. His mammoth remix utilises simple 909 drums, building stabs and classic house bassline, breaking out into filtered piano riff that evokes shades of many a classic house record.

David Durango returns with new "Supernature" EP
David Durango, the Swiss based DJ producer, responsible for some great deep and techy house on labels such as Poker Flat, Dessous, Viva and Resopal, follows up his “In The Last Orient EP” for NRK with a bumper package. The “Supernature EP” features three brand new tracks from David, with some added remix pressure from Matthew Styles and Daniel Kyo.
David’s unique sound is on showcase here with his three originals, always production with depth and a healthy soaking of reverb! On “Supernature”, a relaxed tempo picks up the pace with sprightly percussion and cymbals, layered vox and big chords, sweet deep house music at its finest. “Qubota” builds layer upon layer of swinging drum patterns, hypnotic organ stabs, trebly strings and FXd vocal snips; a well put together house track. And the last of David’s originals, “Bad Room” is the more urgent sounding of all the tracks, with moody stabs and headnodding hats, very groovy club stuff from Mr.
Kyo has been super busy the last couple of years, working his sound onto remixes and releases for Noir,
David Durango’s “Supernature EP” will be available on 12” vinyl from August, and digital download in September.

Ed Davenport to release new EP on NRK

Davenport has already enjoyed positive attention on his releases for esteemed labels such as Poker Flat, Liebe*Detail, Vidab and District Of Corruption. Recent remixes for Len Faci on Cocoon, and Guy J on Jon Digweed's Bedrock label, are also helping to bring his name to the forefront of the scene.
His debut NRK release will feature remixes by Germany's Daniel Stefanik, and NRK's Nick Harris. "Curtain Call" is a heavyweight, tribal workout, with plenty of rolling percussion amongst it's nagging vocal clips and big, twisted pads. "Overdub..." is a dub-heavy houser, an extremely well produced, warm and hypnotizing, deep dancefloor track.
"Curtain Call"/"Overdub In Aminor" will be relased in 12" vinyl and digital download late April.

David Durango's "In The Last Orient" EP out this week

Two tracks from David; "In The Last Orient" is a solid, boompety house cut, with a distinct far Eastern flavour with its vocal sample and instrumentation, this cut has a great groove with a nice seductive feel, whilst "Calle Azul" intricately builds into a great tech-funk workout. Remixes of these two great tracks come courtesy of Tony Lionni, and NRK's own Nick Harris. Tony Lionni is hotly tipped right now, what with recent releases on Ostgut Ton (his "Found A Place" cut being absolutley huge over the last few months), Mule and Wave, as well as forthcoming material for Freerange. Lionni's remix of "In The Last Orient" is deepness personified, with some cracking drums and warm production. Nick Harris also goes deeper with his remix of "Calle Azul", with a dubby and reverberating version.
Out this week on Beatport, and 12" vinyl, Durango's EP has been picking up some great support from many of the scene's movers and shakers.

Back to basics with Kris Wadsworth

Renowned for his "back to basics" approach of house, prefering the raw and gritty sounds of yesteryear to the somewhat sleeker production sounds of the current crop, Detroit based Wadsworth drops two tracks in his own inimitable style.
The new EP comprises two tracks, "Direct" and "Full Body", both treading similar paths of stripped back, raw house tracks. Bleepy yet with plenty of deepness, it's refreshing to see a producer out there not following suit, but producing an individual sound. Certainly these tracks are intended for those who like their house deeper than the black hole!
Kris Wadsworth "Direct"/"Full Body" gets a release on 2nd November with remixes.

Steve Bug's "The Lab 02" out this week

The album is available as a mixed 2CD and also as highly popular unmixed 2CD, featuring selected tracks in their entirety. We have also issued three seperate 12" samplers for those that still play and cherish the vinyl format!
And so to The Lab, a double disc treat from Bug that does not disappoint. Over the two discs, Steve shows his depth of DJ style, encompassing more deeper house sounds on disc one, and heady “tech” flavoured grooves on disc two. Showcasing many “leaders of the new school”, from the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble (MCDE), DJ Koze, Ben Klock, Audiofly, Markus Worgull and Chateau Flight, alongside established artists such as Peace Division, Cobblestone Jazz and Trentmoller, Bug dedicates this Lab mix to those house music producers with an edge and flair for innovative and futuristic sounds. Bug’s “The Lab” mix perhaps sets the trend away from the minimal-by-numbers music from the last couple of years, and pushes the sound to more interesting and deeper territories. The mixes are the sound of now, from the terraces of Ibiza to the beach parties of Croatia, from the underground clubs of Berlin to the sweat soaked warehouses of London and beyond.
